Significance: All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows' Day or the Feast of All Saints, is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1st. It is a day dedicated to honoring all the saints, known and unknown, and martyrs who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven.
History: The origin of All Saints' Day can be traced back to the early Christian tradition of commemorating martyrs. By the 4th century, churches in certain parts of the Christian world were already celebrating a common feast for all martyrs. Pope Gregory III (731–741) consecrated a chapel in Saint Peter's Basilica to all saints and fixed the anniversary for this celebration on November 1. Pope Gregory IV extended this celebration to the entire Church in the year 837.
