Chulalongkorn Day, celebrated on October 23rd each year, is a national holiday in Thailand to commemorate King Chulalongkorn, or Rama V, one of the most revered monarchs of the country. This day marks the anniversary of his death in 1910.
King Chulalongkorn ascended to the throne at the age of 15 and ruled from 1868 until his death. He is widely recognized for his efforts in modernizing Thailand, including significant reforms in government administration, education, and transportation. He is also credited with abolishing slavery and ensuring that Thailand remained an independent nation during a time when colonial powers were dividing up Southeast Asia.
