History

The conflict began on April 1965 with skirmishes that erupted between Pakistan and India over contested territory in Kashmir but escalated when India launched a full-scale military attack against Pakistan on September 6, 1965. The war lasted until September 23, 1965, when both countries agreed to a United Nations-mandated ceasefire.
