Dussehra, known as Vijayadashami in some parts of the world, is a Hindu festival that symbolizes the victory of good over evil. However, in Myanmar (formerly Burma), which has a predominantly Buddhist population with a Christian, Muslim, and Hindu minority, Dussehra is not widely celebrated as it is in India or Nepal.
The Hindu community in Myanmar that does observe Dussehra celebrates it in much the same way as their counterparts elsewhere. The festival typically marks the end of Navaratri and falls on the tenth day of the lunar month of Ashvin according to the Hindu calendar.
Given that Hindus are a minority in Myanmar, public celebrations of Dussehra are limited compared to other countries with significant Hindu populations. The day is generally marked by quiet observance amongst believers rather than widespread public festivities.
