Labor Day, International Workers' Day, and May Day, is a day off for workers in many countries around the world.

Victory Day, celebrated on May 8th in many European countries, marks the end of World War II in Europe, with the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces in 1945. However, it's important to note that there is no particular "1945 Victory Day" celebration specific to the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, which is divided into two territories: Saint-Martin (a French overseas collectivity) and Sint Maarten (a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands).

Both French and Dutch sides have their own national holidays and commemorative events, but neither specifically celebrates Victory Day as it is known in Europe. In France, including its overseas departments and territories like Saint-Martin, Victory in Europe (VE) Day is a public holiday commemorating the end of WWII in Europe. Traditional activities may include parades, wreath-laying ceremonies at war memorials, and speeches by public officials.

On Sint Maarten, historical celebrations would be more aligned with Dutch national holidays such as Liberation Day (Bevrijdingsdag), observed on May 5th to mark the liberation of The Netherlands from Nazi occupation.

For both parts of the island, World War II's impact was felt differently compared to mainland Europe. Celebrations or observances on Saint Martin would reflect local history and cultural practices rather than European-style Victory Day events.
