Commerce Day, known as Verslunarmannahelgi in Icelandic, is a public holiday in Iceland celebrated annually on the first Monday in August. This day has become akin to a long weekend akin to Labor Day in other countries.
The holiday was first established to honor the contributions of tradesmen and merchants to Icelandic society.
