Unification Day of Istria, Rijeka, Zadar, and the Islands in Croatia is commemorated every year on May 15. The day marks the official transfer of these regions from Italy to Yugoslavia after World War II, as a consequence of the Paris Peace Treaties signed in February 1947.
After World War I, with the Treaty of Rapallo in 1920, these territories were annexed by Italy. Following World War II and the defeat of Axis powers, an agreement was reached that transferred control over Istria, parts of the Rijeka-Fiume area, Zadar (Zara), and several Adriatic islands from Italy to Yugoslavia.
