History:
Saint Andrew was an apostle of Jesus Christ and brother to Saint Peter.
His association with Scotland dates back to the alleged relocation of his relics to the Scottish town of St Andrews in the 4th century.
The saltire, or St Andrew's Cross, is a symbol of Scotland and features on its flag.
Traditions:
Traditional Scottish foods such as haggis, neeps (turnips), and tatties (potatoes) are commonly enjoyed.
Ceilidhs – traditional Gaelic social gatherings with folk music and dancing – are popular events.
