The end of World War II in Europe brought an end to six years of suffering and oppression under Nazi rule for the Czech people. The country, particularly the city of Prague, was one of the last areas to be liberated. The Prague Uprising began on May 5, 1945, and lasted until May 9th when Soviet troops arrived.
