Day of State Symbols in Armenia is celebrated annually on June 15th. This day is dedicated to honoring the national symbols of Armenia, which include the Armenian Flag, the Coat of Arms, and the National Anthem.
The origin of this commemorative day is tied to the adoption of these symbols after Armenia gained independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The current national flag was adopted on August 24, 1990. It consists of three horizontal stripes of red, blue, and orange. The Coat of Arms, featuring Mount Ararat with an eagle and a lion on either side, was adopted on April 19, 1992. The National Anthem “Mer Hayrenik” (Our Fatherland), with lyrics by Mikael Nalbandian and music by Barsegh Kanachyan, was adopted on July 1, 1991.
